My5minutes.com Selects "Carma" as Feature Video of the Month

My5minutes.com, an online community that allows people to upload and download videos for free, selects "Carma," a thought provoking amateur movie, as its Feature Video of the Month.

My5minutes.com, unlike any other website on the Internet, allows users to share, watch, and rate videos for free; all my5minutes.com users get a free account, including 5 gigabytes of storage. Since its launch in March 2004, my5minutes.com boasts over 6,000 users and has an average new user growth rate of 20% per week.

"Carma," from "Cosmo's Album," is an amateur movie that tells a complex story of murder and chaos. The movie begins with a man crossing the street when he sees a car about to hit an oblivious pedestrian. He pushes him out of the way, at the expense of himself. What starts with guilt from the driver results in a twisted chain of murders, and the initial hit and run comes full circle when the criminals try to run from the chaos they've created.

I'm absolutely honored that my5minutes.com would choose our movie as its Feature Video of the Month. While I don't feel that "Carma" is a reflection of our full potential, it was definitely a great learning experience and we're already on track to making much more improved movies, said Cosmo Rettig, producer and director of "Carma."

"Carma" was written, choreographed, produced, directed and edited by members of The Hoffa Ninja Squad, an independent film company and stunt team from Northern California. The Hoffa Ninja Squad performs, makes movies, and trains in acrobatics and martial arts together. More works by the Hoffa Ninja Squad are showcased in "Cosmo's Album" at my5minutes.com.

In addition to Carma, more than 1400 videos in 66 categories, including automotive, anime, commercials, martial arts, movie trailers, and sports, can be found on my5minutes.com. Videos range from happy birthday songs to away soldiers, amateur videos from aspiring moving makers, and 2004 Presidential campaign commercials. A thumbnail is created for each video uploaded to my5minutes.com to give users a glimpse of the content in the videos. My5minutes.com is also equipped with a search feature, the ability to leave comments, and a five star rating system, which indicates the most popular videos and determines which make the top ten list. Users that make the top ten videos list capture their five minutes of fame.

My5minutes.com is an amazing resource! It gives talented independent filmmakers, who know nothing about the web or don't have the money to make a website, the ability to share their work. Not only is my5minutes.com incredible technology for distribution, but it is also incredibly user friendly for anyone, added Rettig.

In order to download and watch Carma and other videos on my5minutes.com, users need to have a BitTorrent (a distributed file sharing protocol) client installed on their computer. My5minutes.com recommends a BitTorrent client, which does not include any type of spyware, available for download on its website. To download and view Carma, go to www.my5minutes.com.
